5 Single-Level Open Houses To Check Out This Weekend

The people of Portland have spoken, and the word is that single level homes prove more desirable than multi-level homes. Our recent research shows that they sell faster at an average of only 8 days on the market for the past four months. That’s not a lot of time! If you feel curious as to why that may be, you can read more here.

But for a brief summary, single level homes make great starter homes as well as homes to retire in. The lack of stairs coupled with typically a more manageable square footage make them a versatile option for everyone from first time buyers to folks with a disability to those looking for a forever home where they can age in place. And you know what that means: higher demand and more competition.

What’s the best way to stay on top of the competition? Be in the know about these listings as soon as they come on the market. You can do that by performing a search specifically for single level homes. You find the option under the “filters” tab on the right side of the toolbar.

For this list, we also chose to search for open houses – another great way to stay in the know. The open house option, as you can see in the above image, is also located under the “filters” tab on the right side of the toolbar. And remember, you can always save these searches by clicking the heart on the left hand side of the toolbar. Once you do, you’ll be given options for how frequently you’d like updates on your search. Just think, you can know as soon as an open house gets listed or a new single level home comes on the market!

Now that we’re up to speed on logistics, let’s get to the listings. Check out these five single level homes for sale in Portland now, all with open houses coming up this weekend!

#1 – 10307 SE Flavel Ct.

10307 SE FLAVEL CT

Let’s get things started with a modest but elegant pick in outer Southeast Portland. The listing describes this home as “rural on the outside, dreamy on the inside” – and we concur. Here you’ve got a large corner lot complete with a covered patio. But inside, look forward to some updates, including a sleek wood burning fireplace and an open layout. While this home keeps it simple in terms of square footage, don’t be worried that you won’t have enough storage space. A large attached garage couples with a huge driveway, ensuring plenty of room for all your favorite gear.

#2 – 14625 SE Main St.

14625 SE MAIN ST

Next up, we have another mid-century home, but one with a lot of new remodeling. The biggies are taken care of for you here: furnace, water heater, A/C, etc. But inside you’ll also find some features to soothe your palate as well. Think new kitchen cabinets and bathroom fixtures! The devil is in the details here. Outside, you’re sure to enjoy the large yard with tasteful landscaping and a partially covered deck.

#3 – 17895 NW Tillamook Dr.

17895 NW TILLAMOOK DR

Now for a hop over to Northwest Portland. This home is a rare find – a single level in the desirable Bethany neighborhood. With density and building up being the name of the game these days, this one is a chance to own a single level home on a large lot in this area. Inside, some perks: this home is hooked up to gas for the range as well as the dryer. And don’t discount the outdoor space, either. A nicely sized patio looks out on a spacious, fenced in yard with raised garden beds.

#4 – 3822 SE 105th Ave.

3822 SE 105TH AVE

We’ve got another Southeast Portland gem here, just steps from Ed Benedict Park and Earl Boyles Park. You’ll get a homey, log cabin vibe from this home. That is, everywhere except the primary bedroom, which has been remodeled to include a more modern-feeling recessed ceiling and a gas fireplace. Outside, enjoy an entertainer’s paradise with a lovely covered deck and benches along the fenced yard.

#5 – 1809 NE 32nd Ave.

1809 NE 32ND AVE

Many single level homes still feature carpet, due to its popularity post World War II. Not so here! In this slightly older home, you’ve got over 1,800 square feet of mostly hardwood floors (for those hardwood floor lovers out there). It’s hard to pick a focal point for the living area – the fireplace or the enormous bay window are fighting it out. There’s a ton of charm here, especially given the kitchen’s built ins and colorful tile backsplash. While we’re including it with single level homes since it’s fully possible to live on the one level here, this home does include a finished basement. That means a lot of possibilities – for renters or visitors alike.

Let’s Go Check Them Out Together
