Are Open Houses Safe During COVID19?

You may be wondering if it’s even okay to go to an open house right now, given the state of the pandemic. While any contact always means some kind of risk, rest assured that Portland realtors have been taking responsible steps to make open houses as safe as possible. You should expect to be required to wear a mask and to maintain social distancing.

Of course, everyone has their own personal comfort level when it comes to risk-taking. If you aren’t sure you’re ready to hit an open house yet, be sure to check out our tour scheduling tool on any of our listings. Feel free to schedule a private tour, or take advantage of a virtual Q&A. Our Portland buyers agents can even be scheduled to create a live streaming tour for you on any home while you relax at your own abode.

#1 – 2182 SW Yamhill St.

2182 SW YAMHILL ST

For romance, you can’t beat this enormous Queen Anne style home. Nestled in the King’s Hill Historic District and built in 1882, this house is, naturally, on the National Historic Register. And you’ll see why, with the elegant wood that graces its floors, molding, and banister. Five fireplaces add to the ambiance, along with claw foot tubs. Its gazebo-like porch adds character and beauty, not to mention a place for outdoor enjoyment in any weather.

With a separate studio apartment on the lower level and a separate living unit on the upper level, this home is an excellent investment opportunity. Rent one, two, or all three of these spaces.

Check out the open house on Saturday, 1/16, from 11am to 1:30pm.

#2 – 2443 SE Clinton St.

2443 SE CLINTON ST

Another oldie but goodie here. If Southeast Portland is calling you, you can’t get much more charming the Clinton St. Just off Division St., Clinton is smattered with local cafes and neighborhood eateries.

An expansive covered front porch greets you, giving this home a very classic Portland vibe. Once inside, the hardwood floors, millwork, and marble fireplace harken back to the home’s history. But not everything about this house screams vintage. The kitchen has been given a remodeling to die for, including the coveted Viking cooktop. A two car garage also provides security and convenience, since parking in this neighborhood gets more difficult as it becomes more desirable.

This home also includes a finished ADU, complete with separate entrance, laundry and kitchen. Check out the open house on Saturday, 1/16, from 1pm to 3pm.

#3 – 617 N Lombard St.

617 N LOMBARD ST

Not looking for such a large space? Or, do you prefer a newer build? This North Portland home is new construction with a bold design and clean, high-end finishes. Situated in Piedmont, it will put you close to anywhere in city due to its proximity to major bus lines, the MAX yellow line, and I-5.

The open concept space and light color palate are accented by black fixtures, creating a striking, modern industrial atmosphere. Subtle elements such as the pale wood flooring keep the home feeling warm, though. And if you’re a fan of tiling, you’ll enjoy the elegant grey kitchen wall and the delightful black tile accents in the bathrooms.

This property has an attached ADU. For a house with a completed ADU, this is a pretty friendly price. Check out the open house on Saturday, 1/16, from 11am to 1pm.

#4 – 6315 SW Peyton Rd.

6315 SW PEYTON RD

Everyone has different priorities when searching for a home. If yours includes a large and well-maintained yard, this might be the one for you. Tucked in a quiet area of Southwest Portland, this property spans .36 acres at a price per acre well below the other houses we’ve listed today. The backyard is large and delicately landscaped, with plants and stone paths complimenting the natural flow of the space. A water fountain is the focal point of a large deck, creating a private oasis. A pergola-covered hot tub, tool shed, and chicken coop mean there’s something for everyone in this yard.

The inside is nothing to be sneered at either. The kitchen has been recently updated with deluxe gas appliances, and a built in wood-burning fireplace ensures indoor comfort as well.

Check out the open house on Sunday, 1/17, from 1pm to 3pm.

#5 – 2434 SW 17th Ave.

2434 SW 17TH AVE

For the big finish, we have this magisterial example of Portland architecture. Inside you’ll find a mix of original floors and millwork and updated appliances. Picture all the convenience of a gorgeous, modern kitchen, then add all the old world elegance of recessed wood-accented ceilings just steps away in the dining room.

The owner’s suite on the top floor is punctuated by no fewer than 19 skylights and views of Mount St. Helens. Add to that a huge jetted tub, a standalone shower, a fireplace, and multiple reading nooks for the ultimate experience of picturesque Portland ownership.

The outside won’t disappoint either. On one side, a peaceful Japanese garden. On the other, a more open space complete with basketball court. Overlooking that is a huge deck, partially covered and partially open, so you can enjoy any kind of weather to your liking.

Check out the open house on Saturday, 1/16, from 1pm to 3pm.
